About the role:
We’re seeking a sharp, business-minded Commercial Counsel to join our growing legal team as our third legal hire. This is a unique opportunity to shape legal processes in a high-growth, cutting-edge AI company. You will work closely with Sales, Customer Success, Product, and Security teams to support and scale our commercial contracting function, while also helping manage risk across a wide array of legal areas. This role primarily partners with West Coast stakeholders, and must be willing to work Pacific time zone.
Responsibilities:
- Negotiate, draft, and manage a broad range of commercial agreements, including MSAs, NDAs, SOWs, order forms, and reseller agreements.
- Partner with cross-functional teams (Sales, Finance, Product, InfoSec) to streamline the contract lifecycle and support business objectives.
- Provide practical legal advice on data privacy (including GDPR, CCPA, and other global frameworks), security, and customer compliance matters.
- Build and refine internal playbooks, templates, and processes to improve speed and consistency in deal execution.
- Help drive compliance, policy development, and legal operations initiatives.
- Support a wide variety of legal matters beyond commercial work, including vendor agreements, product counseling, employment, and corporate governance as needed.
Qualifications We Value:
- J.D. from an accredited law school and admitted to practice in at least one U.S. jurisdiction.
- 2–5 years of legal experience, with a strong foundation in negotiating complex commercial technology agreements; in-house experience at a SaaS or AI company preferred.
- Deep understanding of data privacy and regulatory frameworks affecting tech businesses.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with a practical, business-friendly approach to legal advice.
- Strong organizational and project management abilities; able to handle multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Comfortable operating autonomously while collaborating across teams
- Must be willing to work Pacific time zone
