As a Content Strategist, you’ll play a key role in shaping and executing multi-channel content strategies, with an emphasis on web and digital experiences. You will collaborate closely with clients and internal teams to lead content audits, define content requirements and structures, shape user journeys, and support new and refreshed websites that serve business goals and audience needs.

What You’ll Do

Website & Digital Content Strategy

  • Conduct in-depth content audits to assess quality, performance, gaps, and redundancies
  • Develop and refine site taxonomies, page hierarchies, and content matrices
  • Define and document information architecture and content governance plans in collaboration with UX and dev teams
  • Create or evolve content maps, wireframes, and sample content to guide web content development
  • Collaborate with SEO and analytics teams to ensure content is optimized for findability and aligned with user behavior

Content Strategy Development & Execution

  • Develop data-driven, audience-centric content strategies that support client business goals across digital channels
  • Translate brand strategy, messaging, and voice into compelling content structures and formats
  • Drive editorial planning and content calendars for print, web, and digital programs

  • Act as a bridge between strategic thinking and execution, ensuring content supports performance goals

Performance Analysis & Optimization

  • Analyze content performance using tools like Google Analytics, SEMrush, and others
  • Provide ongoing recommendations for content updates, consolidation, or expansion to improve user experience and SEO

Client Engagement and Communication

  • Serve as a content strategy lead or support on key client engagements, communicating ideas, documentation, and rationale clearly
  • Present audit findings, content recommendations, and progress to internal stakeholders and clients

Innovation & Trends

  • Stay ahead of web and digital content trends, CMS best practices, accessibility standards, and search behavior shifts
  • Bring fresh ideas and emerging tools into Unlock’s content approach

Ideal Qualifications

  • 4-6 years of experience in content strategy, digital marketing, or content-focused website projects — agency or healthcare experience a plus
  • Experience leading or contributing to website content strategy, including audits, taxonomy, wireframing, and IA
  • Familiarity with content management systems (e.g., Sitecore, Drupal, WordPress), project management tools, and website migration processes
  • Strong understanding of SEO, UX principles, and web accessibility standards (WCAG)
  • Excellent writing and editing skills across formats, with a knack for simplifying complex information
  • Ability to translate research and analytics into strategic content plans
  • Comfort juggling multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced, cross-functional environment

Perks and Benefits

  • Competitive Salary
  • Health, Dental and Vision benefit packages to fit all types of lifestyles
  • Life, Short- and Long-Term Disability Insurance paid 100% by the company
  • FSA / HSA Options
  • 401(K) with a generous company match program

Safe Remote Job Search Tips

Verify Employer Thoroughly

Research the company's identity thoroughly before applying. Check for a professional website with contacts, active social media, and LinkedIn profiles. Verify details across platforms and look for reviews on Glassdoor or Trustpilot to confirm legitimacy.

Never Pay to Get a Job

Legitimate employers never require payment for applications, training, background checks, or equipment. Always reject upfront payment requests or demands for bank details, even if they claim it's for purchasing necessary work gear on your behalf.

Safeguard Your Personal Information

Protect sensitive data like SSN, bank details, or ID copies. Share this only after accepting a formal, written job offer. Ensure it's submitted via a secure company system or portal, never through insecure channels like standard email attachments.

Scrutinize Communication & Interviews

Watch for communication red flags: poor grammar, generic emails (@gmail), vague details, or undue pressure. Be highly suspicious of interviews held only via text or chat apps; legitimate companies typically use video or phone calls.

Beware of Unrealistic Offers

If an offer's salary or benefits seem unrealistically high for the work involved, be cautious. Research standard pay for similar roles. Offers that appear 'too good to be true' are often scams designed to lure you into providing information or payment.

Insist on a Formal Contract

Always secure and review a formal, written job offer or employment contract before starting work or sharing final personal details. Ensure it clearly defines your role, compensation, key terms, and conditions to avoid misunderstandings or scams.
