Job Description
Unlock Health breaks down the walls that healthcare providers have lived with for decades. We connect the dots across managed care and marketing so that providers can realize their missions and patients can get the right care. We've brought together the top healthcare marketing organizations to make this vision a reality, with a team of experts in managed care, technology, and ROI design.
Title: Creative Strategist
Direct Manager Title: Director or VP, Strategy
Location: We are prioritizing applicants local to Nashville, TN or Chicago, IL
The Role
The essence of any strategic role at Unlock is to solve our clients' business problems by developing breakthrough strategies (often by using compelling insight-driven research) and focusing the output of the agency in a way that leverages its creativity and expertise to produce a positive and measurable impact.
The Creative Strategist will work with oversight from a more senior member of the team, and often with other team members on a variety of assignments. To begin, the Strategist’s role may be to help facilitate the smooth passage of information or research data. However, over time, the Strategist should be helping to shape strategy by driving some of the component parts of the strategic effort in the account or project team. Ideally, there will be accounts/projects which will enable you to devote more time to, and have greater impact on, rather than jumping in and out of support work. This is a busy job, often with multiple demands, in a creative and dynamic environment.
What You’ll Do
- Audit competitors/clients
- Look at trends and market dynamics
- Create inputs for our proprietary strategic process
- Set up research
- Sample, screener, discussion guides/questionnaires
- Conducting analysis and individual interviews (and occasionally conducting focus groups if appropriate)

- Write creative briefs
- Put together presentations for clients and, where appropriate, present them, working with analytics and the different elements of media/channel and engagement planning
Ideal Qualifications
- 2-3 years’ experience in a strategic role
- Creative thinker and solid strategic-thinking skills
- Curious and open-minded, yet also decisive and solution-oriented in equal measure
- Clear understanding of:
- How research and insight can drive great creative output
- How to balance big-picture thinking with detailed and rigorous thought
- How to make a tangible difference to clients’ business
- Team-oriented collaborator and enthusiastic risk-taker
Nice to Have
- Unlock works exclusively in healthcare, and overwhelmingly for healthcare providers. Experience in the sector is not required, but an interest in it, or a curiosity about it, is. It is a sector that can be complex and challenging at times, but is also rich with emotion and humanity, perhaps like no other.

- Competitive Salary
- Health, Dental and Vision benefit packages to fit all types of lifestyles

Verify Employer Thoroughly
Research the company's identity thoroughly before applying. Check for a professional website with contacts, active social media, and LinkedIn profiles. Verify details across platforms and look for reviews on Glassdoor or Trustpilot to confirm legitimacy.
Never Pay to Get a Job
Legitimate employers never require payment for applications, training, background checks, or equipment. Always reject upfront payment requests or demands for bank details, even if they claim it's for purchasing necessary work gear on your behalf.
Safeguard Your Personal Information
Protect sensitive data like SSN, bank details, or ID copies. Share this only after accepting a formal, written job offer. Ensure it's submitted via a secure company system or portal, never through insecure channels like standard email attachments.
Scrutinize Communication & Interviews
Watch for communication red flags: poor grammar, generic emails (@gmail), vague details, or undue pressure. Be highly suspicious of interviews held only via text or chat apps; legitimate companies typically use video or phone calls.
Beware of Unrealistic Offers
If an offer's salary or benefits seem unrealistically high for the work involved, be cautious. Research standard pay for similar roles. Offers that appear 'too good to be true' are often scams designed to lure you into providing information or payment.
Insist on a Formal Contract
Always secure and review a formal, written job offer or employment contract before starting work or sharing final personal details. Ensure it clearly defines your role, compensation, key terms, and conditions to avoid misunderstandings or scams.
