What you'll do:
- Lead and Build the Marketing Data Science Function - Establish and grow the first Data Science team supporting Marketing, setting the roadmap and execution plan for the function.
- Develop High-Impact Models and Analytics - Drive the creation and evolution of Marketing Mix Models (MMM), Geo-Testing and Incrementality models and other statistical analyses that quantify the impact of brand and performance marketing investments.
- Own and Execute the Marketing Data Science Roadmap - Design, prioritize, and deliver against a roadmap that quantifies and improves marketing ROI, and delivers actionable insights and recommendations to drive business objectives.
- Hands-On Technical Contribution - Spend approximately 30% of time as an individual contributor, setting the technical standard and owning critical analyses.
- Mentor and Grow the Team - Hire, coach, and develop high-performing Data Scientists (currently managing two), fostering technical excellence and professional growth.
- Partner Across the Business - Collaborate deeply with Product, Engineering, Marketing, Analytics, and other Data Science teams to integrate insights into programs and product roadmaps.
- Champion Measurement and Optimization - Build new tools and processes—such as recommendation engines—to uncover cost-saving strategies, optimize marketing investments, and inform executive decision-making.
- Create Visibility and Impact - Serve as a trusted thought partner to senior leadership and stakeholders, communicating insights, influencing strategy, and elevating the data science profile across the company.
What we're looking for:
- Advanced degree (MS or PhD) in Statistics, Computer Science, a related field, or equivalent experience.
- 8+ years of combined postgraduate academic and industry experience in data science.
- 3+ years of experience in managing teams of data scientists, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement.
- Proficient in Python/R, SQL, and working with cloud-based data environments.
- Deep expertise in causal inference, Marketing Mix Modeling (MMM), incrementality measurement, and experimental design and analysis.
- Hands-on experience as a data scientist in a technology company.
- Prior experience managing and mentoring Data Scientists. Ability to set a compelling vision, motivate teams, and deliver results through others.
- Demonstrated skills in selecting the right statistical tools given a data analysis problem.
- Strong sense of ownership and urgency, with a demonstrated ability to align data science initiatives with business priorities and measurable impact.
- Exceptional communication skills; able to distill and translate complex analyses for senior marketing, product, and engineering partners, as well as senior leadership and the C-suite.
- Experienced in building programs, processes, and teams from the ground up.
- Passionate about driving visible impact at scale in a dynamic environment.
- Strong business and product acumen, with a proven ability to translate ambiguous questions into clear analyses and actionable success metrics that drive impactful business decisions.
- Experience being a thought partner to improve decision quality and able to influence with expertise.
What skills are ideal but not required?

- Experience working on apps focused on driving daily, weekly, or monthly active users (DAU/WAU/MAU).
- Experience within a Growth function like user engagement and retention.
