Reddit offers unique and high engagement conversations, we’re the home of communities on the internet. Our communities achieve fun, exciting, and quirky things when they band together. Over the last few years we have been growing our advertising business and now are a sizable ads player with over 1B in revenue. We have multiple ad formats like image/video/carousels/etc that advertisers rely on for their goals. This is where the Ad Formats team comes into play in developing these formats to their V2 to V10 and beyond.
The team builds and evolves ad formats to deliver strong user experiences that align with advertisers marketing goals. They expand ad inventory by enabling ads on new placements, optimize user experience, support the ads/consumer ecosystem to ensure efforts for user growth happen in tandem with ads revenue, and develop infrastructure to scale ad products.
The Engineering Manager (EM) for the Ad Formats Foundations team will lead and manage a team of highly technical engineers across iOS, Android, Web, and Backend domains, focusing on continuously improving the ad formats' common infrastructure to enhance developer efficiency and system reliability. They will oversee infrastructure updates, tech stack migrations, scalability investments, and compliance needs. The EM will provide technical leadership, ensuring best practices and system stability, while collaborating closely with cross-functional teams. A key focus will be driving projects related to infrastructure, compliance, and developer efficiency, ensuring the foundation for ad formats remains robust and scalable. Additionally, the EM will manage team resources and ensure projects align with team and company goals.

Responsibilities:
- Build and expand a team of frontend, backend, fullstack and mobile engineers.
- Collaborate with engineering leaders across the company to discover and build solid foundations for ad products
- Maintain and enhance the team culture of fast moving high quality products delivery and iteration.
- Ensure the long term success of both product and people growth
- Participate in and be the ultimate owner of the full development cycle: product ideation, design, development, QA, experimentation, analysis, and launch. You’ll be brainstorming, giving feedback on design docs, product specs and mocks, and generally helping out wherever is needed.
- Collaborate with multiple teams that either have a dependency on Ad Formats or that the team depends on to ensure area success.
- Be nimble in this fast moving space.
Qualifications:
- 2+ years of experience leading engineering teams
- 7+ years of experience as a software engineer
- Experience partnering with product managers and designers to build new products
- Knowledge of full stack product development practices (Frontend and Backend)
- Leadership experience collaborating across multiple teams to achieve goals
- Knowledge/experience with Ad Tech
- Knowledge/experience with social products
