Job Description

About Us

Propel is on a mission to build technology that strengthens the social safety net. We’re a passionate team of ~100 Propellers who envision a future where every American has the tools and resources they need to thrive.

The Role

Growth marketing at Propel is at an exciting inflection point. We’ve laid the groundwork with early wins in paid acquisition, but we’re still in the early innings of building a scaled, multi-channel growth program. This role provides a unique opportunity to drive a disproportionate impact on a business that is keenly focused on growth, while helping millions of low-income Americans who deeply value our product.

We’re looking for a Senior Growth Marketing Manager to own and scale user acquisition at Propel. This is a high-impact, high-autonomy role responsible for driving sustainable, cost-effective growth through paid media and new channel exploration – working alongside a constellation of vendors and partners to bring strategy to life. You’ll report to the Head of Marketing and work closely with brand, lifecycle, product, and data to turn growth into a durable, compounding engine for the business.

What You’ll Do

  • Own the direction and performance of Propel’s acquisition program—defining strategy, setting channel mix, and driving growth while maintaining unit economics
  • Translate strategy into executional excellence—partner with agencies to run high-performing campaigns across core channels, and test into new platforms to broaden reach and diversify paid mix
  • Manage and optimize the paid media budget end-to-end, including forecasting, pacing, and reporting performance to leadership and cross-functional partners
  • Build a high-performing creative engine—developing testing frameworks and workflows that consistently deliver new creative winners
  • Lead rigorous A/B and incrementality testing, using structured analytics to unearth learnings and drive step-change improvements in performance
  • Advance our attribution and modeling capabilities—refine measurement approaches in partnership with data as we grow into offline and upper-funnel channels
  • Collaborate with brand, lifecycle, and product teams to drive system-level growth—ensuring cohesive messaging, seamless user journeys, and compounding impact across the funnel
  • Manage agencies and vendors with structure and accountability, and help shape the future structure of the growth function—including hiring, mentoring, and developing junior marketers down the line

Requirements

  • 6–10 years of experience leading paid acquisition program at consumer tech companies; mobile-first experience strongly preferred
  • Proven success managing $15M–$20M+ annual budgets across a diverse channel mix, with a track record of driving scale while improving CAC and payback
  • Deep understanding of growth strategies and tactics across the acquisition stack. We’re currently operating on paid social, search and display with near-term plans to expand into TV and audio
  • Strong grasp of performance creative with a trained design eye for what wins and why. Track record of building systems and playbooks with design partners to consistently generate high-performing assets across channels
  • Exceptional analytical thinker —adept at structuring and executing complex analyses to uncover insights, evaluate tradeoffs, and inform high-impact marketing decisions
  • Clear and persuasive communicator—able to synthesize insights into clear narratives and align stakeholders across marketing, product, data, and finance
  • Familiar with mobile attribution platforms (e.g. Appsflyer, Kochava, Adjust) and able to speak to the nuances of various attribution approaches
  • Experience managing agencies and/or junior team members, with a clear coaching and accountability style
  • Thrives in high-ownership environments; equally comfortable setting strategy and rolling up sleeves to execute

At Propel, you'll enjoy:

  • Meaningful work and a strong shared sense of mission
  • Remote-friendly work environment with a dog-friendly office in Downtown Brooklyn. The team meets in-person for optional retreats several times per year.
  • 20 Days of PTO
  • 4% 401K match
  • $10k lifetime spend towards Carrot Fertility
  • Excellent Medical, Dental and Vision options
  • Other health and mental health focused benefits and perks
  • Propel builds compensation bands referencing the 75th percentile of compensation for companies like us. Expected compensation for the role as scoped is $185,000 - $200,000 and will be based on how a candidate matches to our internal leveling guide.

Additional Considerations:

  • We are committed to building a diverse and inclusive team, and welcome applicants from all backgrounds and abilities.
  • We're currently accepting applications from the states we have an established entity, which includes California, Colorado, District of Columbia, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Texas, Virginia, and Washington.
  • Background Check Requirement: For roles with access to confidential employee or customer information, a background check may be conducted following a conditional offer. All background checks are handled in accordance with applicable laws, including the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA).

Safe Remote Job Search Tips

Verify Employer Thoroughly

Research the company's identity thoroughly before applying. Check for a professional website with contacts, active social media, and LinkedIn profiles. Verify details across platforms and look for reviews on Glassdoor or Trustpilot to confirm legitimacy.

Never Pay to Get a Job

Legitimate employers never require payment for applications, training, background checks, or equipment. Always reject upfront payment requests or demands for bank details, even if they claim it's for purchasing necessary work gear on your behalf.

Safeguard Your Personal Information

Protect sensitive data like SSN, bank details, or ID copies. Share this only after accepting a formal, written job offer. Ensure it's submitted via a secure company system or portal, never through insecure channels like standard email attachments.

Scrutinize Communication & Interviews

Watch for communication red flags: poor grammar, generic emails (@gmail), vague details, or undue pressure. Be highly suspicious of interviews held only via text or chat apps; legitimate companies typically use video or phone calls.

Beware of Unrealistic Offers

If an offer's salary or benefits seem unrealistically high for the work involved, be cautious. Research standard pay for similar roles. Offers that appear 'too good to be true' are often scams designed to lure you into providing information or payment.

Insist on a Formal Contract

Always secure and review a formal, written job offer or employment contract before starting work or sharing final personal details. Ensure it clearly defines your role, compensation, key terms, and conditions to avoid misunderstandings or scams.
