As a Sr. People Business Partner supporting our rapidly growing Engineering and G&A organizations, your role is vital to align people strategies with business goals, ensuring the organization is prepared to meet its ever-changing future needs. By closely collaborating with the Chief Technology Officer, Chief Financial Officer, and their organizations, you will be able to develop leaders and teams, drive organizational effectiveness, engage our employees, foster an inclusive culture, and prioritize the highest impact solutions.
This role reports to the Director, People Business Partners and works closely with other functions across the People Team to deliver key talent and people-focused initiatives.
We are at the stage of company growth where this role will spend time daily on both strategic and tactical areas of focus and work. There’s opportunity for massive strategic impact in being partnered directly with C- and VP level leaders across the globe, while also rolling up your sleeves and contributing to the programs and processes that maintain and enhance the rhythm of the business. What you’ll do:
- Serve as a trusted thought partner, consultant, and coach to the Chief Technology Officer and Chief Finance Officer.
- Be the primary point of contact on all people related matters for team members at all levels in the respective groups you support.
- Collaborate and coordinate with leaders, finance, and talent acquisition teams on workforce planning, focusing on talent development, retention, and growth opportunities.
- Execute key People processes, including compensation planning, performance reviews, engagement surveys, and other People programs within designated groups.
- Collaborate with managers to assess employee performance, identify growth opportunities, and recommend appropriate development initiatives.
- Collect and analyze data to deliver insights and drive recommendations that support the business.
- Implement people solutions that meet the needs of the business, such as change management, leadership development, and organizational design initiatives.
- Provide guidance and support to business leaders through organizational changes, growth, challenges, and other key business matters.
- Work with leadership on succession planning, identifying critical roles within the organization and developing strategies to maintain a robust talent pipeline.
- Support or lead special projects, such as process optimization, policy implementation, and facilitating high-performance team workshops.
What You’ll Need
- 10+ years of HR Business Partner experience, partnering directly with c-level executives and senior leaders
- You’ve experienced supporting engineering teams and finance teams, which accelerates your ability to gain trust and establish credibility
- Ability to establish relationships and partnerships at all levels of the organization, including worked with and supported C- and VP level executives
- While not expected to be an expert at statutory requirements of all countries around the world, you have firsthand experience working for a high-growth company during their international expansion phase
- Exhibit strong leadership and influencing skills, and design, implement, and lead change management initiatives
- Proven track record demonstrating agility in an ever changing environment
- Critical thinking skills with creativity and the grit to skillfully problem solve and navigate dynamic, ambiguous situations
- Ability to handle ambiguity with ease
- Superb judgment and integrity, including excellent decision making skills and a sense of urgency
- Ability to work both tactically and strategically to get business needs met
- Attention to detail and the ability to effectively handle multiple priorities, without direct oversight

Compensation
We offer competitive compensation packages commensurate with experience, including salary, equity, and where applicable, performance-based pay. Our Talent Acquisition Team can answer questions around dbt Lab’s total rewards during your interview process. In select locations (including Boston, Chicago, Denver, Los Angeles, Philadelphia, New York City, San Francisco, Washington, DC, and Seattle), an alternate range may apply, as specified below.
